When picturing a pirate, the images that spring to mind are of a rugged long beard, a tri-cornered hat with a skull and cross-bones, black leather heavy boots and a cutlasses sword on the hips, a menacing image and one that you don’t want to mess with. The rugged treasure hunting pirate travelling throughout the seven seas searching for gold coins and long lost jewels now belongs in Hollywood blockbuster movies; that’s not to say that there aren’t pirates now in a modern world but they are more of a different kind, ones that hunt for a different type of treasure.


Introducing The Pirates, a unique online fashion and accessories shop that sells one off treasure that no one else will have. Pippa Pirate, the co-founder of the online shop describes it as, ‘’our goal to stay true to our name. So we are Pirates – we have to sell treasure! This means things that are unique, amazing, fun, outrageous, rare or timeless in their own right”. 


This online shop started originally from Etsy, sourcing their materials across the seven seas worldwide; Etsy is where Pippa shops for her jewellery and fashion, this is where The Pirates first launched online as well, so a soft spot definitely developed. The Pirates range consists of unique and one-off pieces that won’t’ be found on the high street, a unique mixture of vintage and bohemian.
