Following the enormous sound of tender ‘Warm Skin’, the Leeds based artist’s newest offering captures “the surreal feeling of being left hanging on the outskirts of someone’s life but still relentlessly yearning for inclusion in different ways.”

‘Hard Love’ is built from the feelings of oscillating anxiety, sonically recreating the frustration of what Tallsaint describes as “those wavering moments you go through when you’re over thinking about how to behave around this person that’s keeping you at arm’s length.” Spiky synths are layered with an urgent drum track and yearning vocals that take on a quality similar to Roisin Murphy.

On combining her warehouse-pop with her rosy-hazed aesthetic, Tallsaint explains: “I imagined the first-person character in the story being surrounded by neon pink just constantly saying to herself “ah well, tough shit.”’

Tallsaint went on to say, “I feel like ‘Hard Love’ is a self-assured track, which feels great because I feel like as an artist that’s where I’m also at.” Her recent accolades prove this; as main tour support for Woman’s Hour’s March UK dates, Tallsaint also supported Self Esteem at Plug in her hometown of Sheffield and features on BBC Introducing’s Hot List with support at BBC 6Music.  The track is yet another of feat in establishing Tallsaint as an artist that authentically blends intense emotion with sleek electronic pop.
