Philosophy behind Poola Kataryna is to design timeless, oddly beautiful, functional and ethically manufactured products. The S/S’14 collection is bright, bold and oozes pastel goodness. The label pays attention to detail, quality and transparent production. The inspiration comes from living in Finland between Scandinavia and Russia and from mixing modern Scandinavian design heritage and decorative Slavic culture. Original prints and a distinctive play of colours are significant for the brand. The designer, Paula Katariina Kasurinen is a Helsinki based designer. She has studied fashion design in Helsinki and surface design in London. Poola Kataryna is her alter ego. The label Poola Kataryna was founded in 2010 because the designer felt there was a need for truly sustainable clothing — with a playful design and modern twist. She is interested in traditional craftmanship, handicraft technics (especially macramé) and laser cut machines.
