Naromode is loosely derived from the latin ‘Narrative Fashion’, combining Textile Design and Fashion. This fashion brand is driven by innovative textile designers, each item in their current collection tells part of a story, which is narrated through the clothing.
The first collection was taken from the fairytale: ‘The White Snake’ by the Brothers Grimm, which was showcased in September 2013. Their hand drawn illustrations translate ideas through areas of hugely detailed and considered drawings which is a comparison to other areas of colour which have been applied in a less controlled manner. All fabrics are digitally printed, however due to the intricate illustrative and mark-making qualities, the garments retain their individuality.

Iain Macdonald, 27 and Anna Victoria Thorn, 24, created Naromode as a partnership and are both co-founders and designers at the brand. They met in 2008 as they explored their creative development while attending Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen. The designer duo both decided to specialise in Textiles and Surface Design, a BA (Hon’s) degree and this is where their love affair with textiles began.  Over the four years at Gray’s it became clear the appreciation and admiration they both had for each other’s style, mark making and results.

ASOS has already stated that they’re a fan of this newly established brand and their mini range of limited edition scarves were a total sell-out. Recently they were approached by Gladrag, to be part of their Fashion Month exhibition showcasing for three weeks from February the 4th ending in a pop-up shop along side other up and coming fashion designers. The future will also see this label showcasing at St Andrew’s Charity Fashion Show which is the largest student run fashion show in the UK, on the 15th of February. The show will host around 1200 guests and will showcase a range of well established brands, such as Hackett and Topman, as well as much smaller and newly established designers such as Judi Clark, East Club and many more.
