MAC Cosmetics X Giambattista Valli

All has been revealed: the details are out about the hotly-anticipated Mac collaboration with Giambattista Valli, where NYC cosmetics meet Italian chic. Released this July, the collection will include five essential shades of lipstick along with a ‘crystal glaze’ gloss; when combined, there are 10 different options to choose from, which quite aptly celebrates the 10 years that Mac and Valli have been working together.

The collection stands out with its striking packaging, which does something Mac has never done before and matched the outside of the lipstick to match the colour on the inside. The colours themselves are clearly inspired by the shades Giambattista Valli most enjoys working with – from icy pastels to deep hues.

‘Bianca B’ is an almost icy shade of pink with cool, white undertones – a shade often seen at Valli’s shows. For the shade ‘Margherita’, Valli has chosen a yellow toned peach shade, which has warm, orange undertones and gives a satin finish on application. For something brighter, try the shade ‘Tats’ – a daring, hot pink. This fuchsia shade is richly pigmented and will definitely bring the wow-factor with its satin/matte finish.

No collection would be complete without a classic red lipstick – which is where the shade ‘Charlotte’ comes in. This is a shade of red with cool undertones, and applies in a medium-dark tone – the type of colour that wouldn’t look out of place on Rihanna. Finally, ‘Eugenie’ vamps the collection up with its deep cherry (again, with cool undertones) with a semi-matte finish – perfect for a statement lip.
