Read our interview with this Korean based artist below.
PS, hello June!

Tell us a bit about yourself Hyeeun?
My name is Hyeeun Kim from South Korea. I begun my career as a graphic designer and now I am a freelance illustrator. From an early age, drawing is always something that I can be more passionate about and put my energy into. I am currently doing some pieces for an art shop and my upcoming exhibition.

When did you start drawing?
I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember, I’ve always kept a sketchbook.

What inspires you to create such interesting artwork?
I get a lot of inspiration especially from fashion photography, portraits and films. I love fashion and classic films from 1920’s to 1960’s.

Do you have any plans for the future?
I plan to travel with a camera and get my own studio where it will be filled with inspiration.

What do you do in your spare time?
I meet friends and sometimes go to bookstores. While at home, I watch films and collect film stills that catch my eye

Who inspires your style?
I would say illustrators: Esra Roise, Coco, Alice Tait and Spiros Halaris. They’re all so talented and make such beautiful things.

Do you have any favourite artists out there?
I have to say I admire film directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, David Lynch, Michael Haneke and Alejandro Jodorowsky. They are the artists painting on the screen. I like the way films are mixed with a plot, actors, actress, background music and a big screen.

What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
The best advice I’ve ever been given is someone said: if you decide to do something, just do it right now.
