50s Style Checklist

Before we begin, there are a few essentials you will need to perfect that 50s beauty, some you will have already but here goes:

  • Bobby pins or hair rollers
  • Foundation and powder
  • Liquid eyeliner
  • Mascara
  • Red or rose coloured lipstick
  • Nude eye shadow
  • Lip brush
  • Pearl earrings or necklace

It’s All About the Hair

The 50s look is all about the waves and curls and sexy flicks! You can set your hair overnight using bobby pins or you can try curling tongs or hair rollers. Moreover if you feel you are not so hair savvy then you can try using heated rollers for that instant effect!

Be a Dolly

Make-up in the 50s was flawless, pristine and glam! To achieve this look use a seamless mineral foundation and/or all over mineral powder. Next you will need your nude eye shadow; gently brush the nude shadow over your eyelids and you have now created the perfect base!

Pin-Up Flicks and Cherry Lips

Now for the showstoppers! This look is all about the eyeliner flick and high definition lips. Using your black liquid eyeliner line over your upper lid extending right out into that sharp flick then finish the look with a generous coating of mascara on those beautiful lashes.  Fill in your eyebrows with a powder, which closely matches your colour for that defined look. Now, using your favourite lipstick fill in those smackers carefully with your lip brush ensuring you line your cupid’s bow.

Get Your Glad Rags on

Dress the part; full dresses with petticoats underneath, full skirts paired with shirts and neck scarves, wiggle skirts and many more! Maybe you fancy an alternative pencil dress to complete your look? 50s clothing is plentiful and varied and you will be spoilt for choice!
