Inspired by all the great ‘period positivity’ there has been across Instagram over the last few months, we wanted to join in the conversation by taking a look at how our menstrual cycle can affect us (hello bloated tummy!) and what that might mean for your knicker choices.

A new study from Figleaves has found that 78% of women have to bin their knickers thanks to periods, and one in five regularly have to buy new ones every month.

With this in mind, Figleaves reveal the knicker style you should be wearing throughout each stage of your cycle – as a way to save your cash, and avoid any accidents.

When it comes to the knicker styles women reach for during their period, 41% have a ‘go to’ style preference. Heavier period days can often lead to leaking; the cause for more than a quarter (27%) of British women having to change their knickers more frequently.

A spokesperson at Figleaves, said “There has been great progress made to end the stigma around periods through movements such as #FreePeriods and #PeriodPositivity, which is fantastic to see. Periods are a natural part of womanhood and having the right knickers at every part of your cycle can help you navigate it with confidence.”
