London based Aristides Vanis a designer of Greek origin, studied at the London college of Fashion where he first made a name for himself with his bold and unique prints. Hitting the catwalk in A/W’14 Aristides’ colourful unisex collection expressed his love for caricature inspired by the 1968 movie ‘The Party’ directed by Blake Edwards which was shown as part of the LCF press show during London Fashion Week.

The inspiration behind his drawings is firstly the 80’s as an era and secondly the lack of colourful prints available in the UK marketplace without the name of the label. With his new collection of eye catching prints Aristides has created a collection which is both fun and provocative. He describes his style as funny and cool.

Designer Spotlight: Aristides Vanis - The Clothes Maiden

Launching his first ready to wear collection with a range of unisex T-shirts and sweaters, this streetwear label mixes playful characters with a jungle vibe. Illustration is a big part of Aristide’s life. His T-shirts and jumpers are based on caricatures, cartoons and the use of a bold bright colour palette of primary shades of green, red and blue contrasted by monochrome pieces. His desire to offer a unique range at affordable pricing led to this capsule offering. What’s next? Aristides is obsessed with the film ”Earth Girls Are Easy”, which already influences some illustrations based on the movie and sooner or later he will use those as part of a more elaborated collection.
