Accessories designer, Daniella Tigani had a very interesting childhood. In her early primary school years, her parents won a tender to run a hairdressing salon inside Melbourne Airport. It was 1976 and she was six years old. Like most migrants, they relished the opportunities before them, which may never have been possible in the small southern Italian villages that they came from. Little did Daniella Tigani know, that years later, time spent at the airport would inspire her future design label.

Daniella loved spending her weekends at the airport, not only because it was a way to spend more time with her parents but also because of the extraordinary people Daniella Tigani would encounter. Daniella studied the attire of each and every airhostess that graced the salon. The shapes, colours and fabrics, the way they wore their hair and of course the way they tied their scarves.

Daniella Tigani has always admired the colours and textures of fabric. These memories from the airport inform her creative process today, designing silk scarves. This time, the 2015 range of timeless and elegant textile designs and luxurious silk scarves from Daniella Tigani, have been inspired by observations of native Australian flora. The Deco collection of silk scarves, have been inspired by observations of 1930’s – 1940’s Melbourne, commingling the exotic with the local and her European ancestry with a strong sense of an Australian identity.
