New York based designer, Kei Kucera used her ancestry and love for European fashion to create the house of Crokei Kucera. Croquis is a French word for “illustration.” Since all designs start with an illustration, Crokei Kucera is the most simple way to describe her classic feminine designs. The look behind Crokei mixes the sophisticated and classic look of European style to the gritty and very modern New York look. Kucera is known for incorporating strong seam lines and unique detailed stitching in her ready wear. Living in Long Island and commuting to New York works because, LI is becoming niche for young entrepreneurs and being an artist it is quiet enough to zone in and create.

The elements are still very graceful yet perfect for the modern strong woman. Kucera opts to get away from the “all black everything” type of way. While her designs are simplistic with elegance this designer likes to keep up with the changing of colours per season. She embraces colour using teal, fuchsia and reds. If you do catch a black number in this designer’s collection it will more than likely be detailed with a pop of colour! Kucera believes in a versatile colour palette and truly believes in breaking the rules in using colours outside of the season; taking a great note from seasoned fashion houses that always go outside of the box. Breaking rules in fashion makes for great art and in this case great croquis.
