COVID-19 has, undoubtedly, affected the life of the majority of the world’s population in one way or another. With major companies closing their doors and industries at a complete stand-still, the impact of the virus will be felt in years to come.

If you had a trip booked anytime soon it is likely you won’t be going. Whether that be your choice or your travel companies cancellation the vast majority of the population will be keeping both feet firmly on the ground, for the next few months anyway.

Airlines and travel companies across the globe have a huge task on their hands. With countries closing their borders it is no quick job getting stranded holidaymakers home. Then comes the epic task or re-scheduling or refunding all of our hard-earned holidays.

The good news is, this will not last forever. The days of standing in snaked check-in queues and ramming whatever you can into your lighter-packed other half’s case will soon be back with us, not to mention that can of deodorant unveiling you as the next top criminal at airport security – can’t wait!

Airlines currently are in a make or break situation. They are ready to go when we are but just like us are at the mercy of the virus, the good news for all you optimists out there is that there are some INCREDIBLE deals to be had right now, lasting right up to Winter 2021. For the pessimists, I know what you’re thinking, they’re cheap right now because we won’t be out of this mess by that time either (God forbid) which luckily is not the case. Airlines have such cheap deals at the moment because we are still in a limbo stage currently, the reality is, sooner or later, the world and its industries have to find a way to operate in a relatively normal routine whilst protecting the most vulnerable members of our society. Once we get the green light to resume life as we knew it, these prices will rise, most likely up to four times higher what you could be paying right now and will remain that way for the next couple of years. Why? It’s necessary taking advantage. Aircrafts are not cheap to operate and the cost doesn’t stop once aircrafts are grounded, money has to be earned back somewhere and of course, they know that we will be desperate for a holiday once all this is over.

The likes of easyJet, Jet2 and Jet2 holidays and British Airways to name only a few currently have some of the best holiday deals on sale for Summer 2021 that I have seen for a long time.

EasyJet currently has some fantastic deals on their Summer 2021 holidays. However, if a city break to Europe is maybe more your thing they have a FANTASTIC one-off deal where you can pay just 99p for one 23kg check-in bag/sports equipment on their flight only deals. That’s £1.98 each way AND you get to bring all the liquids, creams and gels you like – result! Check-in bags would usually cost between £20-£30 per bag, each way up to 23kg. You haven’t got long with this one though, this deal ends at 23:59 on 16/04/20 and is applicable to all flights departing from 01/06/20 to the end of their current online flight schedule. To access the details, simply select your flight of choice and add the baggage to your booking via easyJet’s website

Jet2 Holidays are currently offering £100 off any amended holiday departing before 31st March 2021, or £60 off any amended holidays departing after 1st April 2021. A pretty generous offer from Jet2 Holidays if you ask me! Don’t leave deciding what to do with your currently booked holiday too long though, this offer ends on 30th April 20 *Jet2 holidays reserved the right to cancel this promotion at any time. For more details on this promotion and how it can save you money click  via the Jet2 Holidays website here;

British Airways also have some unbeatable prices on all of their long and short-haul destinations. Offering return flights to North America for £249 return or a multitude of European destinations starting at £25 each way. You can have a browse these incredible savings and fill your time at home planning your next getaway here

There are so many deals to be snatched, use them to your full advantage! You won’t be able to beat the feeling of emerging from lock-down with a wonderful holiday to look forward to and plenty of £s saved! Another tip is to accept a travel voucher as means of a refund if your financial situation permits. It will help the airlines out at a time where all industries are facing economic hardship and it is a great incentive to lock-down (pardon the pun) the holiday money and re-book for a better time that suits you.
