It’s almost time to start planning your spring wardrobe. But before you trade snow boots for sundresses, there are a few weeks of very unpredictable weather. During those weeks, a jacket is the most practical piece to have in your repertoire. So, here are five jackets that are just right for the upcoming in-between weather.

Denim and Leather

A light denim jacket is an absolutely timeless piece to have in your wardrobe. Plus, it’s perfect for transitioning from winter to spring. Lighter denim is the most versatile because it can just as easily be dressed up over a pretty frock as they can down with denim shorts. Teaming denim up with leather also looks good, just as Fashion Blogger, Hannah Louise F has done above.

Fringe

Layers are crucial when transitioning your wardrobe to spring. It can be freezing one minute and sunny the next, so removable pieces like jackets are key. A fringe jacket is another great option to have because, unlike a coat, it doesn’t cover up your entire outfit! We love this chic look on Ariadna Majewska, worn with some black denim cut-offs.

Faux Fur

If the weather outside isn’t messing with your outfit, the temperature indoors still might! Chilly offices and shops are annoying, but a jacket is just what you need to toss on and warm up. Jenni Rotonen from Pupulandia nails transitional dressing with this stylish look. You’ll get so much wear out of a jacket like this because it’s perfect for almost any occasion: indoor, outdoor, office event, weekend—you name it! It also adds a cool, textural contrast to outfits like silk tops or dresses.

Kimono Style

Kimonos are a wardrobe essential year-round, but for transitioning to spring, a kimono is the perfect lightweight layer. To get the most use out of your blazer, look for one with stylish details like this sequinned number. This one will work for a host of occasions! Ellen V.Lora rocks this statement kimono, but if you don’t feel 100% confident pulling off something like this, you can always go for one that’s has subtle detailing.

Monochrome Madness

With winter coats, it’s easy to rely on one statement piece to make your entire outfit. In transitional weather, though, jackets are going on and coming off, so you shouldn’t neglect what’s underneath! But that’s not to say a statement jacket can’t work. A monochrome jacket like Lucy De B’s from Lovely by Lucy is still fairly neutral, so it works well with other prints or simpler looks.
