Urban, androgynous style has been a trend that graced the catwalks of every Fashion Week in early autumn, and someone who is well ahead of the curve with their A/W’13 collection is Ukranian designer Julia Efimtchuk and her design brand Yulia Yefimtchuk+.

With designs and garments you could set your spirit level too, this line is for the city dweller who knows a thing or two about fashion, and themselves. These designs are directly influenced by the early British Mod scene in the 50’s. The whole idea of women and men being equal, and the boy/girl feel the clothes give, reflect that era perfectly. However, there is a definite feel to the brand that pays homage to the hipster youth culture and the skateboarding comeback of today that makes this line fit perfectly in with the times.

These designs feature dresses that fall below the knee, unisex kilts, and button up shirts. These items give a very clean simple silhouette, while staying edgy and interesting. A/W’13 has seen the second collaboration between Yulia Yefimtchuk+ and online Ukranian e-shop Hako. Efimtchuk successfully sold her S/S’13 collection through the website and has now taken it on a second time delving deeper into the male design aspect of the brand.

The colour pallet could have come straight out of Piet Mondrian’s sketch book. It’s navy and red, with white and black blocks drawing you in. In fact the whole collection is very much a throwback to the De Stijl movement, with these garments on your back you will literally be a walking piece of art.

What makes this brand so interesting is that you can glance at the garments once and see the immediate minimalism that is so ‘in’ at the minute, but every time you look at them subsequently you realise it’s like looking through a time portal. These clothes bare resemblance to the 1950’s but yet at the same time transport us to 2150. This is what makes this brand really unique.
