Let’s first give a little background to what Lionstudio Jewellery is about. It was founded by designed, Sihan Lei, in 2013 where she adopted the Lion characteristics that are representative of her brand. It has received considerable interest with the launch collection, ‘Be Outstanding’ and will be showcased as the newest collection at Who’s Next in Paris in January 2014.

Moving on to the jewellery itself, Sihan identified herself with a passion in narrative art that resonates strongly with the current collection. Some of the website’s pictures present to us powerful accessories that are created in bold metallic curvatures with the colours emblazoned dark gold and black. They are the centre piece in sharp relief contrasting with the crisp, pale backgrounds.

Taking on familiar images such as eye shapes and collar bones, they become a representation of strength and direction, as the feature’s elements of sharp triangles and gears are a demonstration of the eternal recurrence of life. All pieces of jewellery take on a symbolic value inspired by Buddhist philosophy that beauty is born out of struggle. The pieces take on familiar shapes and shape them into an exotic feature, made from chosen, customised semi-precious stones, large Swarovski crystal and nickel-free hypoallergenic double plated brass. The end-product is accessories that are both bold and a centre-piece to any outfit, and at the same time, intricate and precious.

Every piece is handmade and while each accessory provides their own defining character, the designs of the jewellery on the whole are sure to represent your own bold and daring personality. They can be found and bought at the Young British Designers website that offer a small range of their daring products, from triangle drop earrings to their eccentric and statement necklaces. The Pink Swarovski Bow Tie and Turquoise Gun Metal Ball Chain Pendant deserve a special mention. The artistic construction of a design that originates from danger is placed here in an elegant and audacious finish where wearing it takes the representation of the feature: that of struggle and beauty.
