Beginning her love for design at the age for four, designer Fazane Malik would create outfits for her Barbie’s from pillowcases, making them the chicest dolls in the neighbourhood. She has certainly come a long way, as she can now boast of the prestigious ‘Midlands Independent Designer of the Year 2013 Award’, creating her designs out of the finest silks and cottons.

Having worked in the industry for ten years, she helped to develop ranges for Hobbs, Jaeger, Paul Smith and Monsoon, before starting her own line. With an eclectic mix of bright prints and structured dresses, Fazane’s S/S’14 collection offers an effeminate-yet-strong addiction to any woman’s wardrobe.
With bright Cadbury-esque purples and chequered details, her designs are individual, yet wearable. “Not every woman wants to look like a fashion slave”, says Fazane, “so we offer really great classics that still look stylish and different but last for more than one season.”

Each piece is a limited edition, hand signed and numbered for exclusivity. Featuring the label’s signature monochrome printed silk as a lining, trim or detail, every woman can feel special in a Fazane Malik number.
Jenny Eason founder of the Midlands Fashion Awards explained, “Fazane was a very deserving winner, her designs were amazing and I really loved the collection.”

Fazane said, “I am very honoured to have won this award in the face of such tough competition. I have long been a champion of the amazing talent on offer here in the Midlands.” She added,  “I think it’s great that talent in the Midlands is being recognised….and to win when I have long been a champion of such talent makes it all the more special.”
