Whilst massage therapy provides an endless amount of both physical and mental health benefits, there are many more stress-busting actions to include in your daily routine to help deal with sources of tension and anxiety.

Eat Well

Food high in Vitamin C helps our bodies to regulate Cortisol levels and therefore recover quicker from stressful situations. The longer term effects of reaching for a red pepper salad or an orange will be so much better than snacking on high sugar foods like chocolate!

Be Mindful

Mindfulness is a buzz word at the moment, but with good reason. Mindfulness is about thinking in the moment and encouraging the control of random, unproductive thoughts that may disrupt your day. When feeling stressed take a few minutes to concentrate on producing positive thoughts – this could be in appreciation of your work colleagues, or even of something tasty you ate for lunch!

Exercise (Even if it’s For a Few Minutes)

Exercise encourages the body to release Endorphins – feel good neurotransmitters that enhance mood and also help to boost your immune system.

Check your posture

Poor posture is a well known cause for muscle tension, which causes pain and as a result, increased levels of stress. With many of us sitting at a desk 9-5, it is important to take care to ensure your screen is in the best position and that your seat is fully supporting your back.

Plan Something Rewarding at the End of a Stressful Day

A reward at the end of a stressful day can act like the light at the end of the tunnel – it lets you finish on a positive note and wake up feeling refreshed, ready to tackle the next day. Why not keep time aside for a long bath or even book a therapeutic massage with ourselves?
