When it comes to driving attendance numbers, controversy, it appears, can be a good thing. “China: Through the Looking Glass,” looks at how China has inspired Western fashion designers, including the ways in which the country’s traditional symbols and aesthetics have been appropriated by them. It’s a multi-media showcase spanning not just fashion design, but also Chinese costume, painting, porcelain, calligraphy and other artistic disciplines.

We had the opportunity to ask Indian American Fashion entrepreneur, Radhika Khanna, on this event for Indian fashion Influence on the west. “I loved the exhibit, our 90% business is out of China. But, it will be great to see all the countries individually, Mexico to Russia, Bhutan to Afghanistan, etc. The next exhibit on India would be a delight to see, how India has inspired Western fashion designers over so many decades. Indian embroideries, rich colours and fabrics have always been a huge part of the fashion industry of the world”- says, Radhika Khanna.
