Within the first few seconds of ‘Perfect Strangers’, it becomes evident that 23rd Hour have breathed new air into the clouded genre of Jazz-influenced music. While incorporating traditional sounds, there’s also a fresh approach to the record that will sound slightly familiar; but their passionate tone throughout is what leads this record into a whole new direction. The title track ‘Perfect Strangers’ is beautifully done from the instrumentation, to the vocal arrangements to the mix down; the entire song is an outstanding production and sets the tone for the album.

Throughout the record, 23rd Hour prove they are full of upbeat swing, with the duo giving the listener a definite subdued sound in tracks such as “Where Do We Go.” They continue their up-tempo sound on “I Got It Bad;” a definite standout track on the album. This track hooks the listener into its bouncy melody with 23rd Hour showing off their strong instrumentation, and witty infused lyrics.

“Hypothetically,” “Forget,” and “LeMorne” are a few of the many amazing tracks on this solid project. “Perfect Strangers,” is a strong representation of a bold project; it’s lyrically solid, passionately presented, and versatile enough to position 23rd Hour in a short list of artists who evolve and withstand the tests of time.
