Already demonstrating once more their musical dynamism on electric new single ‘Mood Swings’, Nova Twins new recordings are a breath of fresh air for both the rock and urban scenes. Soul-shaking, genre-bending and violently atmospheric, the whole EP from start to finish is a whirlwind of head-bangers mixed up in a cocktail of urban sub-genres: grime, R&B and hip-hop are all present here. Infectious head bangers ‘Elephants’ and ‘Losing Sleep’ will certainly rile up mosh-pits at their live shows, whereas ‘Strange Town’ is a creeping track with dark undertones, drafting up a memorable hook that shows their influences are as diverse as their unique brand of ‘nova sound’.

Citing their listening habits – NERD, Rihanna, Betty Davis, Jack White, Missy Elliot – the band’s DIY approach assimilates that of newer grime artists, juxtaposed with their traditional band setup and touring history. Gearing up to release their new EP the genre-fluid duo commented on the title: “It’s a human concept; there is no face to our moods, whether it’s thrilling or ugly, we embrace it all. Because of unrealistic social pressures I think people struggle with their identity… The mind is such a complex thing and we want people to be comfortable in their skin and accept the good with the bad…You are normal.”

Having released their debut EP in August 2016, the band has turned heads everywhere with their unique blend of rebellious punk-rock. Touring the world extensively this past year, notably playing Afropunk Fest in both London and Paris, the band has supported world class acts including, Die Antwoord, Pendulum, Little Simz, Kate Nash and Ho99o9. Beyond musical achievements they have received countless brand endorsements from Dr Martens, House of Marley and were invited by AIM to give a chat on women in music for the BBC Introducing Amplified event and played Selfridges as part of a Music Matters campaign in September.

A glimpse into the future of total genre-demolition, Nova Twins are a duo with their sights set on conquering the world – whether you like it or not. The world best brace themselves for an invasion – Nova Twins are taking over.
