Tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m Alejandra Sáenz, Graphic Designer & Illustrator born in Venezuela. I graduated from university with a Bachelor of Arts and Mention in Graphic Design. I currently live in Buenos Aires – Argentina is where I work as a freelance illustrator. For my illustrations my main inspiration is astronomy, nature, ethereal beauty, magic, and human anatomy. I work with different techniques such as drawing, stippling and acrylic paint.

What inspired you to begin your artistic career?
My family is very artistic so I was interested in art from a very young age so I think that influenced me a lot in developing my drawing skills. My studies and work have always been associated with art and design, I think from a little kid it was decided that I would devote art to the rest of my life.

SoileauWhat do you do when you’re not using your creative brain?
I spend most of my time in my house working for some commission or on personal projects, but my regular pastime is going out to bars, concerts, listening to music, watching movies/series and reading.

Do you have any favourite artists out there?
Of course, some artists that influence my art are Gustave Doré and Harry Clark, I admire how they use their technique and how complex they are. Also I really enjoy the art of Mark Ryden, Michael Hussar and many others.

Who’s your personal style icon and why?
I’m not sure if I follow any fashion icons but I really like the style of Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani.

JaneDo you have a favourite piece of artwork?
From my works: “Cosmic Matter” maybe because it represents what inspires me the most. It is a special piece. Other artist: “Night Visit” from the series “Blood” by Mark Ryden.

Any exciting projects in the pipeline?
I have a personal project, a brand of T-shirts for men and women called “Nebula“, in which I imprint some of my illustrations, soon I’ll be revealing the second collection.

How do you see yourself in five years time?
I have no idea! But I hope to continue working as an illustrator and not stop creating, it’s something I really love doing and I look forward to the rest of my days.
