Hailing from the essence of the Philippines, Joyce Penas Pilarsky created a gorgeous nature centred line of couture. In her young adult years Joyce started supporting herself as a flight attendant and later got into fashion and commercial modelling which exposed her to the world of design. Joyce wanted to bring to life nature and the beautiful, great outdoors in her fashion. Growing up in Manila, the ocean and elegant flowers play a big role into who Joyce is as a person and why the art of nature has helped shape her brand.

Joyce was once a little girl dreaming of design. As a child the designer would construct clothes for her dolls, as she became older stylish productions for herself and family came about. Once Pilarsky got the hang of making clothes she moved onto dressing her friends who gave nothing but positive feedback. Pilarsky then set her dreams on becoming a designer of couture. The collections present stay soulful to being “elegant, sophisticated, daring and gorgeous”, as described by Joyce.

Pilarsky always advises other creatives to always follow and remain passionate about their dreams. Joyce Penas Pilarsky has come down a long road from a little girl with dreams in Manila. The S/S’15 line has just wrapped and pays tribute to the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s, staple years for women in fashion. Joyce has a big fascination with the glamour of the 50’s and wanted to charmingly portray it modernly. This season is full of femininity and contrast. “I wanted to introduce, to the young generation how beautiful fashion we had was during the previous era; rich and elegant has fully described my entire S/S’15 collection,” Pilarsky stated.

The collections was recently showcased at both Boston and Brooklyn Fashion Week. The collection is highlighted with bright colours and lots of flowers. As a preview for this coming A/W’15, the brand will present glam. The theme will be Roman empire meets Filipino indigenous. Natural materials such as pineapple fiber, bamboo fiber and abacca fiber will act as, substantial products for the next collection. The goal for next season is to really embody the spirit of true goddess, that is the modern woman.
