Great teeth come about with care and attention and also visits to your hygienist and your dentist. If you wish to maintain healthy gums and teeth, you need to practice proper oral hygiene and visit your dentist regularly.

Here are tips for helping you take care of teeth.

Brush at least two times daily. After meals is the best time to brush your teeth. Find a toothbrush with a small head to access your back teeth better. Soft bristles tend to be kinder to gums.

Using fluoride toothpaste: Fluoride is important for hardening tooth enamel and lowers your risk of decay.

Brush meticulously. You should brush your teeth for at least 2 to 3 minutes.

Floss teeth regularly. While flossing, use a gentle and slow sawing motion.

Limiting your intake of acidic drinks such as fruit juices, cordials, and soft drinks. Food acids tend to soften the tooth and can dissolve the minerals present in the tooth enamel bringing about cavities (holes). In serious cases, tooth degradation can be right to the gum.

Lower you intake of sugary foods. Bacteria present in dental plaque convert the sugars into acids.

Dentist in London Dr John Fagbemi mentions the importance of guarding teeth against injury. When playing sports, always wear a full-face helmet or mouth guard.

Try saving knocked out teeth. Whenever possible, hold the tooth in place while you seek dental advice immediately. If this is not possible, place it in milk or wrap it in plastic and seek dental advice at once.

Don’t use teeth for anything besides chewing food. If you use your teeth to remove bottle tops, crack nuts, or rip open packaging, you risk breaking or chipping your teeth.

Daily cleaning of the surface of the tongue. You can easily remove countless bacteria that live on the rougher top surface of the tongue using a professional tongue cleaner. The bacteria on your tongue can easily cause bad health and affect your oral health negatively.
